Drunken man thrashes wife to death in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Baripada, July 19: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly thrashed his wife to death in inebriated condition following a heated argument in Jashipur area of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Bilashi Naik and the incident has been reported from Manda village under Jashipur police limits in the district.
As per reports, the accused, identified as Muktiari Naik, returned home drunk following which a heated argument broke out between the couple. The situation escalated quickly and took a violent turn when Muktiari, under the influence of alcohol, brutally assaulted his wife.
In the attack, she sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot.
Upon getting the information, Jashipur police arrived at the scene and arrested the accused. The cops also seized the deceased’s body and sent it for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
