Separate road mishaps claim seven lives in Odisha, two critical

Balasore/ Berhampur, Jan 19: At least seven people were killed and two others were critically injured in two separate incidents of road mishaps in Odisha last night.

As per reports, in the first mishap, which took place near Keshari Patna under Surada police limits in Ganjam district, five people were killed and another sustained critical injuries after two motorcycles collided with each other. Sources said six persons were riding two bikes when the collision took place.

The second mishap was reported from Balasore district after a motorcycle rammed into the rear of a stationary truck near Udala under Kamarda police limits. This mishap claimed two lives and critically injured another person.

The deceased were identified as Biswa Bikash Parida of Vrindavanpur village and Akash Bhakta of Baharda village in the district. Sunil Behera, who was critically injured in the mishap, was first admitted to Baliapal community health center. However, he was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his health condition deteriorated.

It is suspected that the accident took place due to dense fog last night.
