Puri, Aug 26: The public darshan of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra at Puri Srimandir will be restricted today from 7pm to 11pm for ‘Janmashtami rituals’.
The servitors of the 12th-century shrine will conduct secret rituals commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna late this evening. Today, the temple's Mahajans will spearhead the Janmashtami celebrations, drawing inspiration from the divine narratives of Devika and Basudeva.
In the evening, a symbolic reenactment of Lord Krishna’s birth will take place at the eastern gate of the Puri Jagannath temple, with Pujapanda servants in attendance. On this special occasion, a golden idol of Lord Krishna will be displayed in the southern chamber of the temple.
