Puri, Nov 2: Piligrim town Puri has been witnessing a consistent fall in the arrival of foreign tourists post cyclone Fani in April 2019.
According to an administrative report, a record number of 37,534 foreign tourists had visited Puri in 2019. Their arrival declined after cyclone Fani hit Odisha on 26 April 2019. However, the pilgrim town has been witnessing a high rise in arrival of domestic visitors during the last four years.
As many as 21,42,011 tourists including 4,595 foreigners stayed in hotels during their visit to Puriin 2022, according to the report.
Similarly, the town witnessed arrival of 1,47,47,370 day visitors including 5,140 foreigners.
Hotels in Puri served night stay hospitality to 10,53,068 guests including 190 foreigners in 2021 while the town witnessed 52,73,000 day visitors including 400 foreign nationals.
As many as 15,66,936 tourists, including 2838 foreigners, stayed in Puri hotels in 2020 and the town saw footfall of 33,27,833 day visitors out of which 3071 were out of the country.
