Jajpur, Mar 5: Passenger trains are set to commence operations on the Haridaspur-Paradip railway route starting Tuesday, following the virtual flag-off ceremony by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, taking place today at an event in Chandikhol, Jajpur.
Initially, the MEMU train service will operate from Paradip to Keonjhar, with the first passenger train journey traversing through Kendrapara district. A trial run was successfully conducted last Sunday, where an expert team from the Railway Safety Commission inspected the Kendrapara railway track and conducted a trial run of a passenger train. Worth mentioning, the inaugural freight train ran on the Haridaspur-Paradip railway track in September 2020.
