Firozpur, May 09: Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated further on Friday when a Pakistani drone struck a residential area in Firozpur, Punjab, injuring three people.

According to SSP Ferozepur, Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, all three victims suffered burn injuries and were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

"We received information about three people being injured with burn injuries. Doctors are attending to them. Most of the drones have been neutralized by the army," SSP Sidhu confirmed.

Indian Air Defence forces successfully intercepted the majority of drones detected in the Firozpur region.

This incident follows a failed attempt by Pakistan to target civilian infrastructure along the Line of Control and the International Border, which was thwarted by Indian air defence systems the previous day. Despite this, Pakistani drones were again sighted on Friday across multiple regions, including Jammu, Samba, and the Pathankot sector.

In the Samba sector of Jammu, red streaks were visible in the sky and explosions were heard as Indian air defence systems intercepted incoming drones. The intercepts took place amid a precautionary blackout, which has been enforced in several areas due to rising tensions.

Regions currently under complete blackout include Akhnoor and Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir; Ambala and Panchkula in Haryana; Firozpur in Punjab; and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.
