Bhubaneswar, May 20: Poll campaign vehicles in Bhubaneswar are playing loudspeakers over permissible decibel limit which has become a headache for the city residents.

The campaign vehicles of various candidates are doing rounds across the city from 7 am till late evening. The loudspeakers are so loud that it is disturbing senior citizens and students and these vehicles come around at least 10 times a day, said Manas Mohanty, a resident of Jagamohan Nagar.

Our children are unable to study in the evening because of these loudspeakers, said Minati Rout of VSS Nagar.

Most of the candidates are moving over 10 vehicles obtaining permission for 3. However, the flying squads and MCC panel formed by district election officer have turned a blind eye to the problem.

Besides, campaigning is banned near hospitals, religious places, educational institutions and parks, but no one is following the campaign guidelines. According to law, 65 dB is the highest permissible limit for loudspeakers.
