Odisha govt reinstates IAS Bijay Ketan Upadhyay arrested in bribery case

Bhubaneswar, June 28: Odisha government has revoked the suspension of IAS officer, IAS officer Bijay Ketan Upadhyay and has reinstated him as secretary, Board of Revenue, Cuttack. The bureaucrat, who was Horticulture Director, was arrested by the Vigilance on December 30 last year for accepting and demanding Rs 1 lakh as a bribe from a private company. Upadhyaya was accused of demanding a bribe of Rs one lakh from a company through Santosh Kumar Pattanayak, relationship manager of a Bhubaneswar based private bank for release of a bill of Rs 50 lakh. Vigilance sleuths had also arrested the bank official. The Odisha government had also suspended the bureaucrat on the day he was arrested.
