Delhi, Aug 1: IPS officer Sonali Mishra has been appointed as the first woman Director General of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Friday.
Mishra assumed her charge today as DG, becoming an iconic lady to hold the post of chief of railway security forces during the 143-year of commission of the RPF.
Her appointment has been approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
She will serve in the role until October 31, 2026, said a notification issued by the Ministry of Home.
Mishra, a 1983 batch IPS officer brings with her over three decades of distinguished service.
Known for her professionalism, leadership, and dedication, Mishra previously held the roles of ADG (Selection/Recruitment), ADG of Police Training & Research Institute, and Director of the Madhya Pradesh Police Academy in Bhopal.
Beyond state policing, Mishra also served with elite organizations like the CBI, BSF, and held a key role in the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Kosovo.
For her exemplary services, Mishra has received both the President’s Police Medal for distinguished services and the Police Medal for her Meritorious Services dedicated for the nation.
