Bhubaneswar, Macrh 20: As the election date approaches, the Congress party in Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha constituency is witnessing a surge in aspirants vying for the party ticket. More than five individuals are actively lobbying to secure the opportunity to contest the upcoming election.
The notable aspirants Sibananda Ray (Senior Vice-President, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee), Subhendu Mohanty (Vice President), Yasir Nawaz (State Student Wing President), Krushna Chandra Pati (Youth Wing Vice President) are seeking the Congress ticket to contest election from Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha constituency.
Additionally, there are other contenders aiming to represent the party in the assembly seats that fall under the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha constituency:
Rasmi Mohapatra is aspiring to contest the election in the Ekamra Bhubaneswar assembly seat as Congress nominee.
Biswajit Das and Ranjit Patra are also competing for the party ticket in the same Ekamra Bhubaneswar assembly seat.
Prakash Jena (Former Corporator) and Rajani Mohanty (Party Spokesperson) are in the race for the Bhubaneswar Central (Madhya) seat.
Ashok Das (Bhubaneswar Block President), Gitanjali Mohanty (District Women President), Madhusmita Parida (PCC Member), Nihar Ranjan Behera, Debashis Rout, Shrinibash Routray, and Chinmay Sundary arel aspiring to represent the party in the Bhubaneswar North assembly seat.
Interestingly, there is a demand among Congress leaders to contest the election in the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha constituency. In the 2019 elections, CPM candidate Janardhan Pati, who contested as an alliance partner of Congress, had secured only 2 percent of the votes in Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat.
