Bhadrak, Mar 7: Amid the rising cases of cyber fraud, the government has intensified efforts to strengthen cybercrime control mechanisms. In this regard, the first Cyber and Economic Offences Police Station in Bhadrak district was inaugurated on Friday.

The new cyber police station has been established by converting the old Rural Police Station located on the bypass road in Bhadrak town. Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the facility through video conferencing during a special programme.

The event was attended by Bhadrak Member of Parliament Abhimanyu Sethi, Superintendent of Police Manoj Rout and several other dignitaries.

Officials said the new cyber police station will greatly benefit residents of the district. Earlier, victims of cybercrime had to approach the cyber police station in Bhubaneswar to file complaints. With the new facility in Bhadrak, people can now report cyber fraud and economic offences locally.

The station will operate with a specially trained team comprising one Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), six inspectors and eighteen other staff members. Police officials stated that the unit will exclusively handle registration and investigation of cybercrime and economic offence cases, ensuring quicker response and better services for the public.
