Barang, Feb 12: The eco-friendly toy train facility in Nandankanan Zoological Park here has halted since January 25 due to technical snag.
The repair work of the train and track is going on at priority basis. However, the authorities are tight lipped about when the service will resume.
According to sources, the 55 batteries installed in the toy train worth around Rs 10 lakh have got damaged.
The eco-friendly battery-operated toy train with four bogies of 74-passenger capacity was introduced in October, 2021.
However, the train service has been interrupted several times due to technical snag during the last 27 months. The authorities are spending lakhs of rupees in repairing the train.
Hundreds of visitors are returning disappointed due to unavailability of the train service, especially children.
Notably, the toy train has been a great attraction for children. It starts from the toy train station which goes round a circular track of 1.58 km along the lake and thickly vegetated hillock area with free ranging herbivores.
