Balasore, Jul 21: The mysterious death of young engineer Rashmiranjan Sethi, a native of Anla (Kabirpatana) village in Jagatsinghpur district, has taken a fresh turn after police recovered a purported suicide note that has raised several questions.
According to investigators, the note appears to have been written using two different inks, while the message itself is limited to a brief statement claiming that "no one is responsible for my death." The unusual nature of the note has prompted police to send it to a forensic laboratory to verify its authenticity and determine whether it was actually written by Rashmiranjan.
The deceased's family has questioned why the alleged suicide note was not recovered earlier during the investigation. They have alleged that Rashmiranjan's wife and one of her male friends were involved in circumstances leading to his death and have demanded a thorough investigation. However, these allegations have not been substantiated by police, and no official conclusion has been reached.
The case has also drawn attention because Rashmiranjan's wife was reportedly not present beside his body at the hospital after his death, a circumstance that has become one of the aspects being examined by investigators.
Police are also investigating whether Rashmiranjan had travelled to Balasore on his wife's birthday with the intention of taking his own life or whether other circumstances were involved.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage from the rented house where Rashmiranjan's wife was staying has revealed that several people, including two women, arrived at the house on motorcycles and scooters after the incident. Investigators are working to identify these individuals and determine whether they have any connection to the deceased or the events surrounding his death.
Officer-in-Charge Alok Behera said the recovered note has been sent for forensic examination. The handwriting analysis, along with the post-mortem report, is expected to play a crucial role in determining whether the death was a case of suicide or whether there was any foul play.
Police have stated that the investigation is ongoing and that the exact cause and circumstances of Rashmiranjan's death will be established only after the forensic and post-mortem reports are received.
