Bhubaneswar, Aug 31: A woman was found dead at the Barmunda bus stand, and a medical student was found hanging in his hostel room at Patia, Bhubaneswar on Friday.
In the first incident, the passengers at the Barmunda bus terminal witnessed the woman’s body and immediately informed the police.
Police arrived immediately on the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the woman was from Sorada in Ganjam district and had booked a ticket to travel there with a young man the night before. The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, and police are working to identify the woman and trace the man who accompanied her.
In a separate incident, Arnab Krishna, a medical student from Dhanbad, Jharkhand, was found hanging in his private hostel room in Patia. The student, preparing for his MBBS, was found with a plastic rope around his neck, his feet touching the ground, and bloodstains near his feet.
Chandrasekharpur police have recovered the body and launched an investigation, but the exact cause of death is yet to be determined.
