Berhampur, August 19: A marital discord turned ugly in Odisha’s Berhampur on Saturday, where a woman identified as K Deepika knocked the police station once again against her in-laws.

After a week-long dharna before her husband’s house, demanding a legitimate marital status, Deepika lodged a complaint against her in-laws afresh and alleged that they sprinkled buckets of water on her and locked up her in a garage.

Sources said K.Deepika, accompanied by his son was undergoing a day & night dharna before her in-law's house at the Desi Behera Sahi Colony claiming as the wife of one Dinesh. However, neither Dinesh nor his family members responded to the protest in anyways and came forward to receive Deepika as a family member.

Meanwhile, Deepika reached the Town Police station in the morning and lodged a complaint wherein she cited that she was confined in a garage for a long time and was hit with buckets of water, thrown from the rooftop, by the in-laws.

Based on it, the police summoned Deepika’s father-in-law and mother-in-law, in order to investigate the matter.

Worth mentioning, Deepika has been fighting an odd battle with the in-laws, in order to get her vermilion back on her forehead. However, she is now fighting the battle more boldly, after the DNA report revealed that Dinesh is the father of Deepika’s son.

Quizzing the trio is underway. Sincere efforts will be made to redress the dispute with an amicable understanding, said the Investigation Officer(IO).
