Mumbai, August 18: After spending nearly five years in a pond as a self-prescribed hydropathic-aid to fight a debilitating ailment, West Bengal boy Iqbal(17) is now under specialized care in Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital, Mumbai.
After primary examinations of Iqbal’s rare symptoms and anatomic parameters, a dedicated team of doctors are in search of the precise disease,that gives unbearable pain to the young lad out of water.
Iqbal, born in an extremely poor family, has now received a new ray of hope to getting a new lease of life after he drew attention of Anant Ambani, following his struggle with life -being almost submerged in water day & night went viral.
A team of local doctors rushed the spot to take stock of the matter who were stunned to find the poor guy in water, submerged more like an aquatic being.
Local residents during their observations expressed concern over the health condition of the water-exposed boy as he was often seen floating from morning until late at night in various water bodies. Doctors warned of the health risks associated with extended water exposure. A dermatologist at SSKM Hospital noted that prolonged immersion can cause skin maceration, which makes the skin pale, soft and more susceptible to irritation, cracks and infection. Another dermatologist highlighted that continuous moisture raises the risk of fungal and bacterial infections and emphasised the importance of high-end medical examination rather than extended time in ponds.
Following a critical review by medical experts, Iqbal was then airlifted to Mumbai on reportedly with the intervention of Anant Ambani for specialised care and treatment at Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital.
With the expert doctors now assessing his condition, Iqbal and his family are now all hopeful for getting a new life, as other boys do.
Following the intervention of Reliance Industries Executive Director Anant Ambani, arrangements were made to transfer Iqbal to Mumbai, where he was admitted to Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital for specialised evaluation and treatment.
With his admission at Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai, Iqbal is now under the care of leading medical specialists in the country.
According to reports, Dr Ashutosh Das who leads a medical team comprising specialists of multi-specialties said that the lad is suffering from one of the rarest diseases.
The boy’s treatment and cure needs a lot of evaluations of his blood, skin and other essential diagnosis that will clinically reveal the precise disease, underlying the self-prescribed hydropathic-intervention for pain relief.
Meanwhile, a team of psychiatric doctors have also made their efforts on to rule out if the symptoms involve psychological or societal factors, said reports.
