Bhubaneswar, Aug 15: A businessman from Balangir, who was allegedly abducted and assaulted by a group of people, was rescued by police from the Khandagiri area of Bhubaneswar on Saturday following a coordinated operation by the Balangir Police and the Commissionerate Police.
The businessman, identified as Narendra Sahoo, alias Munda, was allegedly abducted by six to seven people after a verbal altercation on Friday afternoon. He reportedly went missing shortly after the incident, prompting his family to lodge a complaint with the police.
During the investigation, police reportedly traced Sahoo’s mobile phone to an area near DN Regalia Mall in Bhubaneswar. Acting on the location inputs, the Balangir Police, with assistance from the Commissionerate Police, formed multiple teams and launched a search operation.
The police teams later raided an apartment near DN Regalia Mall and rescued Sahoo on Saturday afternoon.
However, the alleged abductors reportedly fled the spot before police could apprehend them. A search operation has been launched to identify and arrest those involved in the alleged abduction and assault.
