Bhubaneswar, Nov 9: India has officially submitted its bid to host the 2036 Summer Olympics, with Ahmedabad designated as the opening city if the bid is successful. As the country advances with this ambitious plan, Bhubaneswar is positioning itself as a significant contender, prepared to host a variety of Olympic events due to its state-of-the-art sports infrastructure
Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium, a global icon in the sports arena, has previously hosted prestigious tournaments, including the 2017 Men’s Hockey World Cup. The city’s existing sports facilities, coupled with plans for future enhancements, make it an ideal candidate for hosting events such as hockey, athletics, and more.
To manage the financial implications of hosting the Games, a multi-city approach is being considered, allowing the costs to be distributed across several cities. Bhubaneswar is poised to play a major role in this endeavor. As India’s Olympic aspirations materialize, Bhubaneswar’s strong sports credentials are set to elevate its profile on the global stage.
