Dense Fog Expected In Coastal Districts Amidst Dry Conditions

Winter conditions in the state remain steady as the latest Odisha Weather Forecast indicates dry weather prevailing across most districts. According to the data released by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, residents can expect a continuation of the current chill without significant fluctuations in the coming days.

Temperature Updates and Coldest Spots

G. Udayagiri in the Kandhamal district has emerged as the coldest spot in the state, recording a shivering minimum temperature of 4.3°C at the hill station. In the plains, Phulbani reported the lowest minimum temperature at 7.8°C. Conversely, Paralakhemundi recorded the highest maximum temperature at 32.0°C.

For the capital region, Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum of 31.0°C and a minimum of 12.7°C, while Cuttack saw slightly cooler night temperatures at 11.8°C. The IMD has stated that there will be no large change in the Minimum Temperature (Night temperature) over the next 4 to 5 days across the districts of Odisha.

Fog Warnings for Coastal Districts

While the overall weather remains dry, visibility is set to drop in specific regions. The weather department has issued warnings for shallow to moderate fog in isolated pockets.

  • January 21 (Day 1): Fog is very likely in Khordha, Puri, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, and Cuttack during early morning hours.
  • January 22 (Day 2): Similar conditions will persist in Khordha, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, and Bhadrak.
  • January 22-24 (Day 3 & 4): The fog belt will shift slightly, affecting Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Jagatsinghpur.
  • January 25 (Day 5): Visibility issues may continue in Jagatsinghpur and Puri.

Commuters in these areas, particularly along highways in Cuttack and Khordha, are advised to drive with caution during early morning hours due to reduced visibility ranging between 200 to 500 meters in moderate fog zones.
