Bhubaneswar, Sept 22: As GST 2.0 tax reforms take effect today, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing the historic Next-Generation reforms that promises to transform India’s economic landscape.

Taking to his official ‘X’ handle, CM Majhi hailed the launch of the Next-Generation GST reforms as a historic moment in India’s economic journey. He praised PM Modi’s visionary leadership, noting that the introduction of the upgraded 2-slab structure marks a transformative shift in the way the nation produces and consumes goods.

The new reforms, which simplify compliance and reduce GST for MSMEs, are expected to drive local manufacturing and foster the "Make in India" initiative.

“Today, 22nd September 2025, is to getting etched in history as an iconic date as Bharat rolls out the Next-Generation GST reforms under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shree Narendra Modi Ji. The upgraded 2-slab structure brings about a welcome change in the way we produce and consume. Easier compliances, reduced GST on MSMEs will encourage manufactures and producers to build for India, to Make in India,” he wrote.

CM Majhi emphasized that these changes will boost the consumption of Swadeshi goods and services, strengthening the economy and laying a solid foundation for an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

He also pointed out that the reforms align with PM Modi’s broader vision for a self-reliant, prosperous India by 2047, bridging the goals of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India.

“The reduction in GST will ultimately boost consumption of Swadeshi goods and services, resulting towards a resilient and stronger economy built on the bedrock of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. These Next-Gen GST reforms tie the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Make in India together and form a more cohesive action plan towards Viksit Bharat 2047,” he added.

He expressed heartfelt gratitude to PM Modi for this people-centric reform, which reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and improving the ease of living for all citizens. Reiterating PM Modi's words, "Nāgarika Devo Bhavaḥ," CM Majhi reaffirmed Odisha's commitment to realizing the dream of a developed and thriving Bharat.
