Bhubaneswar, March 15: Former IAS Officer and ORHDC MD Vinod Kumar has been awarded a 3-year RI on the charges of housing scam.
The Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar on Friday convicted Kumar and two other officials in connection with embezzlement of funds and corruption.
The other two persons who were sentenced by the court are Purna Chandra Das, former executive director (Technical) and Pradeep Kumar Rout, former accounts officer of ORHDC.
The court ordered each of them to pay fine of Rs 25,000 and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months on each count for the offence under Section 13 (2) r/w 13(1) (d) PC Act, 1988/420/120-B IPC.
Another convict Ashok Kumar Nanda, secretary, VIKASH (NGO) was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 3 years and pay fine of Rs 25,000. In default of payment of fine, he has to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for 2 months each for the offence under Section 420/120-B of IPC.
Worth mentioning, it is the ninth conviction for Vinod Kumar relating to the ORHDC.
