Bhubaneswar, Oct 165: The Excise Department has served show-cause notices to five dance bars at Cuttack Road in Bhubaneswar for flouting norms.
The action followed after the department received evidence regarding showering of currency notes in those bars. Sources said that the department is also planning to raid nightclubs, and pubs in the state capital.
Earlier, the Commissionerate Police has also conducted surprise raids on various bars and nightclubs in Bhubaneswar last night.
A special team of the Commissionerate Police conducted raids at several bars, and nightclubs in Chandrasekharpur, Patia, Cuttack Road, Mancheswar, and Infocity. During the raid, it came to the fore that several bars in the city were operating beyond the stipulated timings.
As per reports, a majority of the bars in Patia and Chandrasekharpur areas of the city were found operating till 2:30 a.m.
