Bhubaneswar: OdiaGenAI, in collaboration with the AI & HPC Research Center (AHRC) at IIT Bhubaneswar and the School of Computer Application at KIIT-DU, has announced a groundbreaking three-day Generative AI workshop scheduled for July 3-5, 2025, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The hybrid event, themed "Empowering India Through Inclusive Generative AI," aims to democratize artificial intelligence technology for India's diverse linguistic landscape.
Building upon the success of their 2024 workshop, this expanded event promises to deliver comprehensive training in Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) from an India-centric perspective. The workshop specifically emphasizes adapting cutting-edge AI techniques for India's multilingual environment, with special attention to Odia and other underserved regional languages.
The three-day program features an ambitious agenda including GenAI product launches, expert talks, and a competitive hackathon where the best system will receive awards. Participants can engage in poster presentations, demo sessions, quiz competitions, and pitch sessions, all designed to showcase and reward innovation in the generative AI space. The event also includes expert panel discussions and media communication sessions to facilitate knowledge sharing and networking.
International and domestic experts form the organizing committee, led by Dr. Shantipriya Parida, Senior AI Scientist at AMD Silo AI, Finland, and Prof. Kalyanamalini Sahoo from Artois University, France. Other notable committee members include Prof. Dilip K. Prasad from UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Dr. Atul Kumar Ojha from the University of Galway, Ireland, and several distinguished professionals from Indian institutions.
The workshop maintains an inclusive approach by offering free registration to students, professionals, and anyone interested in learning generative AI and LLM-based technologies. This accessibility aligns with the event's mission to bridge the digital divide and ensure that advanced AI capabilities reach India's diverse linguistic communities.
Participants can contribute through various formats including poster presentations, demo submissions, and pitch sessions. The organizers have established clear guidelines for submissions, with posters and demos limited to three pages in double-column format and specific naming conventions to distinguish between presentation types. The registration deadline for posters, demos, and pitches is June 10, 2025.
The quiz competition adds an engaging element to the workshop, featuring 50 multiple-choice questions covering all aspects of generative AI, to be completed within 30 minutes. Each correct answer carries 10 points with no penalty for incorrect responses, encouraging participation across skill levels.
The workshop represents a significant step toward making AI technology more inclusive and accessible to India's regional language communities. By focusing on practical, hands-on training and real-world applications, the event aims to create a skilled workforce capable of developing AI solutions that serve India's linguistic diversity.
This initiative reflects the growing recognition that AI development must consider cultural and linguistic nuances to be truly effective in diverse markets like India. The collaboration between academic institutions and industry experts ensures that participants receive both theoretical knowledge and practical insights into implementing generative AI solutions for regional languages.
The workshop's hybrid format allows both in-person and remote participation, expanding access to quality AI education and fostering innovation in India's emerging AI ecosystem.
