Bhubaneswar, Oct 1: The Durga Puja Committee of Chandrashekharpur Sailashree Vihar Phase-6, under the Residential Association, is celebrating the 20th year of its Durga Puja this year. This year, Goddess Durga is adorned with a magnificent crown, featuring intricate designs of various deities like Saraswati, Lakshmi, Ganesha, and Kali, all beautifully included in the decorations. The crown sparkles with jewels and showcases a special touch of artistic craftsmanship.
Additionally, the entrance to the pandal is decorated with an arch resembling the structure of the Janaki Temple of Nepal. This arch stands 50 feet tall and 70 feet wide. Local artisan Rabindra Kumar Muduli and his team from the nearby village of Fulapokhari, under the Baranga region, are actively involved in creating the idols.
The idol itself stands 15 feet tall, with its body intricately crafted in golden hues, measuring 18 feet in height. The pandal is decorated with a variety of lighting arrangements, and artisans from West Bengal and Dhenkanal are hired for this task.
A special "Kalasha Yatra" (procession of women carrying pots) is held on the seventh day, and the eyes of the idol are ceremoniously "opened" on this day. On the eighth day, "Sandhi Puja" (rituals at the juncture of Ashtami and Navami) is conducted, followed by the worship of 21 young girls on the ninth day, symbolizing the Kumari Puja. On Vijaya Dashami, the final ritual of "Aparajita Puja" (the worship of the undefeated goddess) will be held.
From the seventh to the tenth day, a range of cultural programs is organized. To ensure safety and monitoring, the pandal is equipped with 12 CCTV cameras and 6 disaster management devices. Around 50,000 volunteers, both male and female, work alongside police officers to maintain law and order.
Special arrangements are also made for elderly people, women, and differently-abled individuals, including provisions for tri-cycles to assist their visit. All necessary steps are being taken to ensure a smooth and organized celebration of the Durga Puja this year
