Kendrapara, Dec 20: At least 30 students and many teachers of a government-run high school in the Derabish block of Kendrapara district sustained injuries following a bee attack during the school’s annual function.
The incident occurred when a troop of monkeys ransacked a beehive on a tree within the school premises.
Agitated by the disturbance, the bees swarmed and attacked students, teachers, and staff gathered for the function.
Panic ensued as children ran for cover, but many could not escape the aggressive bees. School authorities acted immediately and shifted the injured students and teachers to the nearby Community Health Centre (CHC) in Derabish for immediate medical attention.
“All those injured are now stable after receiving necessary treatment,” a school official said. The sudden attack disrupted the annual function.
