FM College self-immolation case: Girl yet in critical condition says AIIMS Burn Unit Head

Bhubaneswar, July 13: At a time when each & everyone is praying for speedy recovery of  the girl student who set herself ablaze in Fakir Mohan Autonomous College in Odisha’s Balasore, and currently undergoing treatment in AIIMS Bhubaneswar, the HOD of Burn Unit has expressed his concern in handling the critical case. 

Head of the Burn Unit, Prof. Dr  Sanjay Giri said, the patient is undergoing  a critical moment despite she is admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of the Burn Block  with ventilator support with best of effort of a panel of health experts.

An eight-member medical panel comprising specialists from critical care, nephrology, surgery, pulmonology, and anaesthesia are at work round-the-clock, to ensure the girl’s health condition out of danger.

However, he said that the girl’s respiratory system has been affected due to inhalational burn. Thus she is finding difficulty in the respiration while her both kidneys are partially harmed, according to the nephrology doctors.
