Bhubaneswar, March 8: Around 43 per cent of startups are being led by women entrepreneurs in Odisha, against the national average of 18 per cent.
The Startup Odisha, a nodal agency for building the startup and innovation ecosystem in the state, under the MSME department of government of Odisha is providing monthly allowance of Rs 22,000 to successful startups run by women entrepreneurs. Besides, there is provision of Rs 16 lakh towards product development and marketing/publicity assistance.
Several initiatives are being taken to utilise the possible potential women startups in the state. Besides, steps are being taken to streamline gender equality in entrepreneurship.
ProCyto Labs founder Dr Neera Singh said there is a great platform for women entrepreneurs in Odisha with availability of a supportive ecosystem. The recently introduced Biotechnology Policy providing allowance and subsidy to startups owned and run by women entrepreneurs.
Notably, Odisha has emerged as a ‘top performer’ in Startup Ranking-2022, showing significant growth in the startup ecosystem and initiatives to nurture entrepreneurs.
