Traffic advisory issued ahead of Odisha Assembly Monsoon Session

Bhubaneswar, Sept 15: Ahead of the Monsoon Session of Odisha Assembly, the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police on Monday released a traffic advisory to ensure smooth flow of vehicles in the capital city.

The state government is finally set to hold the monsoon session of the Assembly starting September 18 after prolonged delay and uncertainty. The session will include seven working days and will conclude on September 25, with a one-day break on September 21, which falls on a Sunday.

The advisory aims to maintain smooth traffic flow and ensure heightened security around the State Assembly premises.

Several traffic diversions which will be in place as per the advisory are as follows:

  • Vehicles coming from Housing Board Square towards Rabindra Mandap will be diverted at Keshari Talkies Square.
  • Traffic from AG Square heading towards PMG will be redirected via Jaydev Bhawan and Indira Gandhi Park Road.
  • Vehicles approaching PMG from the Master Canteen side will be diverted through adjoining lanes near Lower PMG.
  • Traffic from 120 Infantry Battalion Square will not be allowed towards Rabindra Mandap and will instead be diverted to Power House Square.
  • Vehicles from Raj Bhawan Square en route to MLA Colony and Rabindra Mandap will be rerouted towards Shastri Nagar Square.

The traffic restrictions will remain in effect for the entire duration of the Assembly session. However, they will not apply to emergency vehicles—such as police, fire, and ambulances—or to vehicles with official authorization to access buildings like the State Assembly and Lok Seva Bhawan.
