Puri, June 26: While the newly crafted Jagannath Temple at Digha in West Bengal, has triggered a debate before the spiritual Gurus, Shankaracharya, the seer of the Gobardhan Mutt Puri has opened up on the issue on the eve of the Car Festival, set to draw devotees from nuke & corner of the world.
With crafting a replica of Puri Jagannath Temple at Digha, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee aims trade but not the tradition of true devotion.
Responding to presser, Shri Shankaracharya said, tens of thousands of devotees come to puri round the year with deep devotion in their hearts for the Trinity especially with a passion to have a darshan of Lord Jagannath. Their numbers yet multiply in Rath Yatra, Bahuda, Suna Besa, Snana Yatra, Naba Jouban Besa and Niladribije alike prime rituals.
The devotees will now mostly visit the Local Jagannath Temple at the time of Rath Yatra, celebrated first time by the Digha Temple admin. It will boost up the local trade. However, it may not address the thirst of devotion to Lord Jagannath, the seer added.
