Bhubaneswar, October 23:The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning to fishermen operating in the Bay of Bengal, advising them to return to the coast by the morning of October 24 as a cyclonic system is expected to move towards the north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts by the morning of October 28.
According to the latest IMD bulletin, sea conditions are likely to deteriorate significantly over the coming days as the system intensifies. The east central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal are expected to experience moderate to rough seas on October 23, with conditions likely to worsen to rough to very rough on October 24.
The sea is forecast to become very rough to high over the central Bay of Bengal on October 25. From the morning of October 26 to October 28, high to very high sea conditions are expected over the west central and adjoining east central and northwest Bay of Bengal.
Along and off the Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coasts, rough to very rough sea conditions are likely to prevail on October 27 and 28.
In view of the deteriorating weather and sea conditions, the IMD has advised all fishermen currently at sea to return to the coast by the morning of October 24.
The department has also strictly warned fishermen against venturing into the east central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal from the evening of October 23 to October 26. Fishing activities should also be avoided over the west central and adjoining northwest and southwest Bay of Bengal from October 26 to 28.
