Bhubaneswar, June 2: With the wrong driving on the rise harming police and public the Commissionerate Police is all set to install road spike barriers in Twin Cities, Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda informed pressers on Sunday.
Panda said that number of accidents is increasing in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar Cities due to reckless wrong side driving is on the rise. Enforcement to check the bikers or motorists are all in vain as offenders are escaping from the checking and blocking points following the wrong root. In a bid to block the wrong-side bike riders or drivers, the Commissionerate Police is going to install spike barriers on the wrong- sides. The road spikes will act as the tyre-killers and they will prevent wrong-way driving.
The practice of right- driving on the right side will promote safe city ride and curb number of accidents saving precious lives and national properties, Panda added.
Worth mentioning, the Commissionerate Police seized at least 400 vehicles for violating traffic regulations during a checking drive in the capital city of Bhubaneswar during the last four days.
