New Delhi, May 1: The Election Commission (EC) announced on Friday that repolling will be held on May 2 at 15 polling stations in West Bengal, following the second phase of the state assembly elections on April 29.
In a formal communication to the Chief Electoral Officer of Bengal, the EC confirmed that the decision for repolling was based on reports from the state’s electoral machinery. The repolling will take place from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Of the 15 affected polling stations, 11 are located in the Magarhat Paschim assembly constituency, while the remaining four are in Diamond Harbour.
The EC is still awaiting a detailed report regarding complaints from the Falta constituency, which has received a significant number of grievances.
This is the first instance of repolling in the ongoing assembly elections across West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry. No such measures were taken in the first phase of West Bengal's polling on April 23.
