Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS) has invited online applications for 815 regular posts of Principals and teachers in Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas and Odisha Mining Adarsha Vidyalayas across the State.

The recruitment drive, notified under Advertisement No. 1/2026, covers Principal, Post Graduate Teacher (PGT), Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT), Art Teacher, Physical Education Teacher, and Computer Teacher positions. Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official OAVS website, with the registration window closing on November 11, 2026, at 5 pm.

Vacancy Details

Of the total 815 vacancies, 109 are for Principals, while the remaining positions are distributed among different teaching categories.

The recruitment includes 101 PGT posts across subjects such as English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Computer Science. There are also 362 TGT vacancies covering English, Odia, Hindi, Sanskrit, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.

The remaining posts include 88 Art Teachers, 83 Physical Education Teachers and 72 Computer Teachers.

TGT English accounts for the highest number of vacancies in a single category, with 150 posts.

Educational Qualifications

The eligibility criteria differ according to the position. Candidates applying for Principal posts must possess a Master's degree with at least 45 per cent marks and a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) qualification recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). They must also fulfil the prescribed teaching and administrative experience requirements.

For PGT positions, applicants should hold a relevant postgraduate degree or an integrated postgraduate qualification, along with B.Ed., wherever prescribed. Candidates applying for TGT posts must possess the required graduation or integrated degree qualification and B.Ed. qualification.

TGT applicants are also required to have cleared OSSTET, OTET Paper-II or CTET Paper-II, as applicable.

Separate academic qualifications have been prescribed for Art Teacher, Physical Education Teacher and Computer Teacher posts. Candidates must check the detailed notification for subject-wise eligibility requirements.

Age Limit

Applicants for Principal posts must be above 32 years and below 50 years as on January 1, 2026. For other teaching positions, the prescribed age range is above 21 years and below 42 years.

Age relaxation will be applicable to eligible candidates belonging to SC, ST, SEBC and other reserved categories, including persons with disabilities, as per government rules.

Salary Structure

The selected candidates will be appointed under different pay levels prescribed in the Odisha Revised Scales of Pay Rules, 2017.

Principal posts carry Pay Level-13, while PGT positions fall under Pay Level-11. TGT and Art Teacher posts are placed under Pay Level-10, whereas Physical Education and Computer Teacher positions come under Pay Level-9.

Employees will also be entitled to Dearness Allowance and other admissible benefits as per applicable rules.

Selection Process

The selection process will comprise a Computer-Based Test (CBT), interview and performance test, wherever applicable. The examination will be conducted in both English and Odia.

Candidates applying for Principal, PGT and TGT positions will have to appear for the prescribed computer-based examination followed by an interview. Art Teacher and Computer Teacher applicants will also undergo a performance test.

The final merit list will be prepared by considering the prescribed weightage for the written examination, interview and performance test, as applicable to each post.

Application Fee

Candidates applying for Principal posts under the UR and SEBC categories will have to pay Rs 2,000, while the fee for SC, ST and PwD candidates is Rs 1,250.

For other teaching posts, the application fee is Rs 1,500 for UR and SEBC candidates and Rs 1,000 for SC, ST and PwD applicants. Applicable bank charges and service tax will be additional.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the official OAVS website, www.oav.edu.in. They need to register using a valid email ID and mobile number, fill in their personal and educational details, upload the required photograph and signature, and pay the prescribed application fee through the designated online payment facility.

After submitting the application, candidates should download and preserve the system-generated application form and payment receipt for future reference.

The last date for online registration is November 11, 2026, up to 5 pm. Candidates are advised to go through the detailed recruitment notification before applying.
