NSEIX takes trading closer to round-the-clock operations

Gandhinagar (Gujarat), Nov 3:The NSE International Exchange (NSEIX), based in Gujarat's GIFT City, has extended its trading hours to 23 hours and 30 minutes a day, allowing investors to access the market across Asian, European and American time zones.

Under the revised schedule, trading will take place from 3:15 am to 2:45 am the following day (Indian Standard Time). The new timings came into effect on November 2, giving market participants greater flexibility to trade during major global market sessions and manage their exposure across different time zones.

NSEIX said the move would strengthen GIFT City's position as an international financial centre by improving India's connectivity with global capital markets.

The extended trading window is backed by technology and operational arrangements designed to ensure smooth functioning across sessions. According to NSEIX, its technology infrastructure allows rapid system maintenance and updates, with maintenance completed within three minutes between sessions and in less than 15 minutes at the end of the trading day.

V. Balasubramaniam, Managing Director and CEO of NSEIX, said the extension to 23.5-hour trading was an important milestone in the exchange's efforts to create a globally accessible marketplace from GIFT City. He added that the move would provide participants with greater flexibility and strengthen the city's connectivity with international financial markets.
