New Delhi, August 18: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to share insights from his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska over the Ukraine conflict.

PM Modi thanked Putin for the update and reiterated that India consistently supports dialogue and diplomacy for a peaceful resolution. “India welcomes all efforts towards peace and looks forward to continued exchanges,” Modi said in a post on X.

India had earlier welcomed the US-Russia summit, calling the progress “commendable” and stressing that the way forward lies only in negotiations.

Putin, after talks with Trump, said Russia is committed to ending the war but warned against provocations that could derail progress. Trump termed the meeting “extremely productive,” saying many points were agreed upon, though challenges remain before a ceasefire can be reached.
