Volvo expands its premium lineup with new EX90 electric SUV

Swedish automaker Volvo has expanded its zero-emission portfolio in India by launching its flagship EX90 electric SUV, priced at Rs 1.26 crore. Buyers looking for premium battery-powered mobility now have another distinct option that directly undercuts competitors like Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 580 and Kia EV9. Luxury electric vehicle adoption continues to grow rapidly across the subcontinent, prompting global manufacturers to introduce their high-range models to capture early market share.

Performance and battery capabilities

Equipped with a 106kWh battery pack, this new vehicle delivers 456bhp and 670Nm of torque through a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup. Drivers can expect an impressive WLTP-certified driving range of 625km on a single full charge. Acceleration remains brisk, reaching 100kmph from a standstill in just 5.5 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 180kmph. Fast charging technology allows owners using 350kW DC stations to replenish battery levels from 10 to 80 percent in merely 22 minutes, making highway travel highly practical.

Cabin layout and premium features

Volvo offers this flagship model exclusively in a six-seat configuration for Indian customers. Second-row passengers get individual captain's chairs with sliding mechanisms, ensuring ample space and comfort. Control functions are streamlined through a vertically oriented 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, paired with a dedicated 9-inch driver display. Additional interior highlights include a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, four-zone climate control, advanced air purification, and a panoramic sunroof featuring switchable transparency.

Safety upgrades and booking benefits

Safety remains central to this launch, incorporating nine airbags and an extensive advanced driver assistance suite tailored for complex traffic conditions. Early buyers securing their vehicles before December 31, 2026, receive exclusive ownership perks. These introductory incentives cover a complementary 11kW home charger, three years of scheduled servicing, and an assured buyback guarantee retaining 65 percent value after three years.
