Bhubaneswar, June 22: With lakhs of devotees expected to converge in Puri for the world-famous Rath Yatra, Odisha Police has rolled out an extensive five-layer security plan to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the annual religious spectacle.

Addressing the media on Sunday, Director General of Police (DGP) YB Khurania announced that 275 AI-powered CCTV cameras have been installed at strategic locations across the temple town to monitor crowd movements and detect any suspicious activity in real time.

Alongside the surveillance systems, over 10,000 police personnel—including Quick Response Teams (QRTs)—will be deployed across the city. Drone units will also be in action for aerial monitoring. The Indian Coast Guard will patrol the Puri coastline to bolster coastal security during the festival.

Boost to Medical Preparedness
In anticipation of the massive footfall, the Odisha government has significantly ramped up health services. A total of 69 temporary health camps and 64 ambulances will be operational, with 265 dedicated hospital beds reserved for emergencies.

Furthermore, 378 additional doctors and paramedics will be deployed, and medical specialists from AIIMS Bhubaneswar will be on standby to assist during the festivities.
