Bhubaneswar, September 22: Tensions flared at Capital Hospital on Monday after a one-year-old child passed away, sparking protests by his family who accused the hospital of medical negligence and administering the wrong medication.
The child, identified as Ayushman Sahu from Salia Sahi slum, was brought to the hospital on Sunday with symptoms of cold and fever. Family members claimed that a doctor recommended an echocardiogram for further diagnosis on Monday. However, the child tragically passed away before the procedure could take place.
In the wake of the protests, Odisha Chief Minister announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh for the grieving family, while authorities vowed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.
