New Delhi, September 17: Eight years after a 21-year-old student died in a road accident, a Motor Accident Claims Tribunal in the national capital has awarded Rs 25.82 lakh in compensation to his family.
Presiding Officer Abhilash Malhotra was hearing a compensation claim filed by the family members of Gaurav Kumar, who died in a road accident within the jurisdiction of Dadri police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar district.
The family filed the claim petition before the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal in New Delhi because the insurance company involved in the case, New India Assurance Company Ltd, had its office within the tribunal’s territorial jurisdiction at Patiala House Courts.
The tribunal subsequently awarded Rs 25.82 lakh to the deceased’s family as compensation for his death in the accident.
