Hinjili, May 3: Pochilima Gram Panchayat in Hinjili Block has been honoured as the state’s best Gram Panchayat, achieving excellence in all key sectors, according to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. At the national level, Pochilima has secured the third position, bringing pride to the entire region.
Home to a population of over 6,000, the Panchayat has ensured that every household now has a permanent home. All eligible senior citizens have been enrolled under the Madhubabu Pension Scheme. The Panchayat has also achieved zero child and maternal mortality rates, with complete vaccination coverage among children.
In an innovative initiative, 28 SHG women are engaged in fish farming across four ponds, producing an annual yield of 6.5 tonnes and becoming self-reliant. Under the Mission Shakti programme, 65 self-help groups, with the support of banks, have empowered residents to achieve financial independence.
From health and education to sanitation, safe drinking water, and poverty alleviation, Pochilima Gram Panchayat has excelled across nine key parameters, achieving remarkable overall development.
According to the 2023–24 Central Progress Index report, Pochilima is recognised as the third-best Panchayat in India, while securing the top position in Odisha, bringing immense joy and pride to the local community.
