New Delhi, June 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a high-level meeting of the Union Council of Ministers on June 4 at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi, just days ahead of the Modi 3.0 government's first anniversary on June 9.

This key meeting, according to senior BJP sources, is expected to focus on evaluating the government's performance over the past year, internal strategic discussions, and planning public outreach as the NDA government marks 11 years at the Centre.

“The agenda will include a review of Modi 3.0’s first year, internal matters, and preparations for engaging with the public on the 11-year milestone of the Central Government,” a party insider said.

The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 293 seats in the previous Lok Sabha elections, with the BJP winning 240 seats on its own, well above the majority mark of 272 in the 543-member lower house of Parliament.

It is indicated that the Prime Minister intends to rally his ministerial team ahead of the anniversary with a roadmap for enhanced delivery, governance, and communication with the public.

Meanwhile, the meeting also comes against the backdrop of heightened national security concerns. On May 7, the Indian government launched Operation Sindoor in retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack by Pakistan-backed militants, which claimed 26 lives. In a calibrated military response, Indian forces targeted terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), eliminating over 100 terrorists linked to groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

Following the strikes, Pakistan initiated cross-border shelling and attempted drone incursions across the Line of Control and civilian zones. In a strong counter, India neutralized Pakistani air defence and radar systems, striking 11 military airbases and disrupting key communication nodes.

An agreement to halt hostilities was reached on May 10, de-escalating tensions along the border.
