New Delhi, July 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated US President Donald Trump and the people of the United States as the nation celebrated the 250th anniversary of its Independence. He expressed confidence that the India-US relationship would continue to strengthen, describing the partnership as a "force for global good."
In a message posted on X, Prime Minister Modi said, "On behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, I extend my warmest congratulations to President Trump and the people of the United States on the historic 250th anniversary of your Independence."
Highlighting the deep ties between the two democracies, the Prime Minister said that India and the United States share far more than a strategic partnership. He noted that their common commitment to democracy, the rule of law, and the limitless potential of their people has made the bilateral relationship a positive force on the global stage.
"May the next 250 years bring even greater prosperity, peace, and progress for America and take the India-US partnership to new heights," Modi added.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor thanked the Prime Minister for his greetings in a post on X.
The United States is marking 250 years of independence with a year-long nationwide celebration. According to the White House, the commemorative events began on Memorial Day in 2025 and will continue through the end of 2026 under President Donald Trump's administration.
Joining the celebrations, First Lady Melania Trump also shared a message on X, emphasizing the enduring importance of freedom and individual liberty. She described liberty as the foundation for innovation, entrepreneurship, and the pursuit of ideas without fear, adding that these values reflect the principles for which America's founders fought in 1776.
"Happy 250th birthday, USA!" she wrote.
The White House said the anniversary celebrations involve federal, state, and local governments, alongside private organizations, educational institutions, nonprofit groups, and citizens across the country, commemorating one of the most significant milestones in American history.
