OPSC aspirants demand postponement of mains exam amid flood Sstuation in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Oct 30: The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) Mains examination is scheduled to be held tomorrow, October 31, amid growing concerns among aspirants from several parts of the state. With parts of Odisha, particularly southern districts, still grappling with waterlogging and flood-like conditions following the recent cyclone, several candidates are finding it difficult to make travel arrangements to reach their respective examination centres. Amid these challenges, aspirants have urged the authorities to postpone the examination by at least 15 days, citing concerns over connectivity and transportation disruptions.

Several candidates have urged the state government and the OPSC to postpone the examination by at least 15 days, citing difficulties in transportation and disruptions caused by the recent cyclone and subsequent flooding.

The OPSC Mains examination, which was initially scheduled to begin on October 29, was rescheduled to October 31 in view of the cyclone. However, despite the cyclone having passed, several parts of the state continue to remain waterlogged, with flood conditions persisting in multiple areas.

Candidates from southern Odisha have expressed concerns over their ability to reach examination centres on time. Many aspirants are also facing difficulties in preparing for the examination due to disruptions at home and the impact of flooding in their localities.

The situation has been further aggravated by disruptions in transportation services. Train services have been affected in some areas, while bus operations have also been disrupted, making travel increasingly difficult for candidates.

With the examination approaching, aspirants have appealed to the authorities to reconsider the schedule and defer the OPSC Mains examination by at least 15 days to ensure that candidates from flood-affected regions get a fair opportunity to appear for the examination.
