Faridkot, Oct 26: A mere ₹7 lottery ticket has changed the fortunes of a labourer’s family in Punjab’s Faridkot district. Bimla Devi, the wife of a daily-wage labourer, has won a ₹1 crore prize in the Sikkim State Lottery after purchasing a ticket for just ₹7.

According to reports, Bimla Devi bought the lottery ticket on October 21 from Naresh Monga’s Star Lottery Stall near Kotkapura Railway Station in Faridkot district. She had visited the area to purchase some items when she decided to try her luck.

The lottery results were announced the following evening, on October 22. When she learnt that her ticket had won the ₹1 crore prize, she was initially unable to believe the news. She later visited the lottery stall, where the seller congratulated her and celebrated the win by offering sweets to the family.

The unexpected windfall has brought immense happiness to the family, which has been earning its livelihood through hard work.

Bimla Devi said she intends to use the prize money for her children’s education. Although she has not yet finalised plans for the entire amount, she is also considering starting a new business.

The family hopes that the prize money will ease its financial difficulties and provide better opportunities for the children’s future.

For Bimla Devi and her family, a small ₹7 purchase has turned into a life-changing moment.
