Puri, Feb 1: A special Padmabesha ceremony of Mahaprabhu will take place today at the Puri Srimandir. The Holy Trinity will be adorned in the special Padmabesha attire. Special arrangements have been made at the Srimandir for this event.
According to the legend, during the 12th century, Saint Manohar Das had once collected a lotus from the Pond during the winter season and brought it for Lord Jagannath’s attire. However, the flowers had become dirty, and the priests there sent him back. Later that night, Lord Jagannath, appeared in a dream to Maharaja Gajapati and gave a divine darshan in Padmabesh.
Since then, the tradition of offering this attire for Lord Jagannath has continued through the Bada Chhata Math.
The traditional artisans from the Srimandir have been working with utmost dedication to create the attire, using materials like silk, zari, bamboo, and various kinds of fabrics. The final attire will be brought to the Srimandir this evening after completion of the crafting process.
