Subarnapur, Sept 8: As part of Operation Prahaar's intensified crackdown on drug peddling, police arrested two individuals including a woman following a long chase and seized ganja from their car in Odisha’s Subarnapur district on Monday.
However, another suspect managed to escape. The identities of the arrested accused have not yet been disclosed.
Acting on a tip-off regarding ganja smuggling on the route, Binika police initiated patrolling and vehicle checks. During the patrolling, they spotted a car speeding without a number plate and signaled it to stop, to which the driver refused.
The police chased the vehicle and eventually halted it near Gulapada Chhak. Fearing arrest, the three occupants—two young men and a woman—abandoned the car and fled. After chasing them through a farm field, the police managed to apprehend one youth and the woman, while the third suspect managed to escape.
The exact quantity of the contraband is still being assessed and police are working to track down the other suspect on the run.
An investigation is ongoing to ascertain other details.
