Bhubaneswar, Apr 9: In a tragic incident, an on-duty police constable Odisha Police was killed in a road mishap in Tamil Nadu.
The deceased has been identified as Pramod Kumar Majhi, hailing from Dharmabandha village in Nuapada district. He had joined Odisha Police in 2009 and was earlier posted at the Fifth Indian Reserve Battalion in Boudh.
As per reports, 30 units of Odisha Police have been deployed in Tamil Nadu for smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha elections. Pramod was busy in duty when a vehicle hit him from the rear.
As a result, he sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.
Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Arun Kumar Sarangi expressed his condolence over Pramod’s death.
