OMC Dominates Quality Convention with a Haul of 19 Gold Awards

The Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has delivered a powerful demonstration of its commitment to innovation and quality, with its teams securing an astounding 19 Gold and 3 Silver awards at the 7th Chapter Convention on Quality Concepts (CCQC-2025) in Bhubaneswar. The dominant performance at the prestigious forum, organized by the Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), reinforces OMC's position as a leader in operational excellence and grassroots innovation within the mining sector.

A Platform for Grassroots Innovation

The two-day convention, held on September 13th and 14th, brought together industries from across Odisha under the theme “Quality Concepts for Atma Nirbhar Viksit Bharat.” The QCFI is widely regarded as one of India's most important platforms for recognizing and celebrating the kind of on-the-ground innovation that enhances workplace productivity, safety, and sustainability. It is here that OMC’s Quality Circle teams truly shone, competing against the best in the state. A total of 22 teams from across OMC's various mines and plants presented their projects, which spanned a wide range of operational areas, including production, sales, environmental management, IT, and healthcare. The teams were rigorously evaluated through case study presentations, knowledge tests, and model displays, with their success highlighting a deep-rooted culture of teamwork and creative problem-solving.

A Legacy of Consistent Excellence

This year's massive win is not an anomaly but rather a continuation of OMC's consistent track record of success on quality-focused platforms. The corporation's teams have a strong history of securing top honors at the state-level CCQC, as well as "Par Excellence" and "Excellence" awards at the national level. This commitment to quality has even been recognized on the global stage; in 2023, OMC's teams won two gold awards at the International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC) held in Beijing, a rare feat that cemented its reputation for international best practices.

With this latest achievement, the 19 Gold award-winning teams have earned the highest recognition in their respective categories and will now carry the torch for OMC to the national stage. They have qualified to represent the corporation at the upcoming National Convention on Quality Concepts (NCQC-2025), where they will compete with the best teams from across the country, further showcasing the innovative spirit that drives one of India's largest mining companies.
