Bhubaneswar, Sep 2: The Odisha government has directed the District Collectors and the Superintendents of Police to identify the Bangladeshi infiltrators in their jurisdiction.

Replying to a written question of BJP MLA Bhaskar Madhei, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi told the state Assembly on Monday that the district collectors and the SPs were asked to identify Bangladeshi infiltrators residing in the state.

Committees formed at the block, tehsil, and police station levels will be responsible for the identification of the Bangladeshi infiltrators, he said.

Special focus has been made in the areas where more Bangladeshi infiltrators are staying, more particularly in Bhubaneswar, Kendrapara and Puri, the Chief Minister said.

As many as 3,740 Bangladeshi infiltrators are staying in various districts in the state. They were mostly residing in Bargarh, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Bhubaneswar urban police districts.
