Odisha CM dismisses BJP's allegations as 'Non-Issue' amidst viral video controversy

Bhubaneswar, May 29: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has responded to allegations from the BJP regarding a viral video depicting former bureaucrat V.K. Pandian seemingly influencing the CM's hand movements during an election meeting, dismissing the controversy as a "non-issue."

The video, shared by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on X platform, stirred debate as it captured Pandian, a close aide of CM Patnaik, seemingly guiding his hand during a public rally.

Sarma expressed concern over the video, suggesting a level of control Pandian, a retired ex-bureaucrat from Tamil Nadu, might have over the future of Odisha. He reiterated BJP's commitment to returning the governance of Odisha to its people. The video quickly gained traction, with several BJP leaders, including party's IT cell chief Amit Malviya, sharing it across social media platforms.

In response, CM Patnaik released a video message on Tuesday, addressing the BJP's allegations. He stated, "I believe the BJP, which is known to make non-issues into issues, is discussing my hands. This will certainly not work."

Patnaik's remarks underscore his dismissal of the allegations as politically motivated attempts to divert attention from substantive issues.
